On September 21, 2024, the Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) dedicated a war memorial for Minneapolis native Sergeant Walter Shimshock and the heroic B-17 Airlift Crew who sacrificed their lives in support of the 1944 Warsaw Uprising. The ceremony was attended by the family of the fallen airman, American and Polish officials, and members of the Polish community in Minneapolis / St. Paul.
