Sławomir Cichor began playing in his hometown of Ruda Śląska before continuing his education at the State Secondary Music School in Katowice and the Academy of Music in Wrocław.
He’s an orchestral musician, academic teacher, soloist, chamber musician, and composer. He is also known for his performances with historical instruments and is widely recognized for popularising the trumpet in Poland. During a 20-year career as an orchestral musician, Cichor has worked with the Wrocław Philharmonic Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Sinfonia Varsovia Orchestra. In 2011 he was appointed as principal trumpet player of the Łódź Philharmonic.
A teacher for 15 years, Sławomir Cichor is associated with the Academy of Music in Łódź where he works as a professor and lecturer, conducting masterclasses and frequently acting as a jury member in prestigious national and international competitions, including the 2nd Theo Charlier Competition in Namur, 2015. He was also among the artists participating in the annual International Trumpet Guild (ITG) conference in both 2013 and 2021, and he is going to participate in the 47th ITG Conference in Minneapolis from May 30 to June 3, 2023.
