Minnesota Sinfonia Concert featuring Gao Hong

The Minnesota Sinfonia welcomes the renowned pipa artist Gao Hong.
Featured Soloist: Chinese Pipa Player, Gao Hong – A “dazzlingly virtuosic soloist” (San Francisco Chronicle), Hong is widely recognized not only as one of the world’s finest pipa players, but also as a genre-crossing composer and an accomplished and enthusiastic teacher. Hong teaches at Carleton College and is the founder and director of the college’s Chinese Music Ensemble. Praised for her integrative creativity, she has “become this symbol of cross-disciplinary, cross-cultural and cross-everything communication through music,” according to fellow Carleton professor and pianist, Nikki Melville. A winner of many prestigious awards, she has performed at the Lincoln Center Festival, Carnegie Hall, the San Francisco Jazz Festival, the Smithsonian, and at festivals in Paris, Caen, Milan, and Perth.
