Monologue of a Dog by Wisława Szymborska

Arguably the best volume of poetry by this Nobel Prize-winning poet in a dual language edition that will allow us to read her in translation and compare back to the original. With humor, irony, and compassion, she explores everyday moments alongside larger questions of history, memory, love, and human existence.

Remarks on American Student Reactions to Visiting Poland

What happens when American university students encounter Poland for the first time—not through textbooks or headlines, but by walking its streets, visiting its historic sites, and standing where history actually happened?
“Remarks on American Student Reactions to Visiting Poland” explores those powerful first impressions. Since 2013, Professor Dorothy Pisarski of Drake University has led seven travel seminars to Poland, accompanying Midwestern university students as they studied the Holocaust and World War II at the very places where these histories unfolded. Students encountered important sites and primary artifacts firsthand, transforming distant history into something immediate, human, and unforgettable. Hearing how first-time American visitors respond to Poland offers a fascinating opportunity to see the country through fresh eyes while reflecting on what its history means to us today.

In a world of shifting truths and rising polarization, history demands more than remembering—it demands that we encounter it. The most important classroom may not be on a university campus, but on site, in Poland, where the echoes of the past truly inspire us to build a more compassionate and just future.

Andrzej Wajda Centenial Tour at The Trylon Cinema

Andrzej Wajda is one of the greatest European directors of the twentieth century, and his films have been almost entirely unavailable in the United States. He was a major force in reigniting the floundering Polish cinema landscape amid the rubble of World War II. The films in this series are personal, political, epic, and intimate all at once. Screenings of Andrzej Wajda’s films in the USA in 2026 are part of the ‘Wajda 100 Tour – North America’ project, organized by DI Factory with the financial support of the Polish Film Institute.
