The event is free. \nBigos in take-home 32oz containers will be available for sale at the end of the event for $15.\nYou can also pre-order a container of bigos here: \n\n  \n  \n  \n  \nLocation \nRiedel Farmhouse\nRiverfront Regional Park\n5100 East River Rd\nFridley\, MN\, 55432 \nProgram \n1:00 PM The doors are open\nMaking Marzanna dolls\nMusic & Games\nFood available for purchase: \n\nBigos\, grilled kiełbasa\, cake\nSoft drinks\, beer\, wine\n\n3:00 PM Marzanna Parade to Mississippi\n3:30 PM Take-home bigos sale \nDrowning of Marzanna (Topienie Marzanny) is an old tradition that usually takes place around the Spring Equinox. Marzanna is the Polish incarnation of the old Slavic goddess associated with the end of winter and the arrival of spring.  Dating back to medieval times\, the seasonal rite involved making a Marzanna effigy out of straw and sticks\, which was then wrapped in rugs and decorated with ribbons and beads. The effigy was then burned and drowned to symbolize her demise and renewal of life in the coming spring.
