PACIM Scholarships

The Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) administers these awards:

  • The Guminga Academic Scholarship
  • The Polanie LEGACY Scholarship
  • The Rog Endowment Award

Here are the details and requirements for each of the awards for 2017:

The Angelina Guminga Academic Scholarship

Thanks to the generous bequest from the estate of Angeline Guminga, the Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) is able to offer The Guminga Academic Legacy Scholarship for study at a secondary / post-secondary institution of higher learning including colleges or universities and technical or vocational schools.

Applicants, who must be of Polish descent, must submit by the due date:

  1. Personal Information / Short biographical statement including a brief description of Polish heritage/descent
  2. Documentation of academic achievement (GPA)
  3. Program/course description (tuition, materials)
  4. Two letters of recommendation
  5. Essay explaining commitment to and/or participation in the Polish American community

Awarded scholarships will be in amounts up to $1,000.00.  More than one scholarship may be awarded in any given year.  If no applicants meet the criteria, no scholarship will be awarded.  Applicants may apply in successive years for consideration.

Preferential consideration will be given to PACIM members or their family.

Information provided by applicants will be confined to the scrutiny of the Scholarship Committee and PACIM Board of Directors. All committee decisions are final.

Recipients will receive notification letters from the Scholarship Committee upon their decision of scholarship recipients.

Recipients will have their names published on the PACIM website, and in the PolAm newsletter.

We request that award recipients volunteer at one of PACIM’s events.

The Polanie Legacy Scholarship

Thanks to the generous bequest from the Polanie Organization, the Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) is able to continue their tradition of supporting academic scholarship by offering the Polanie Legacy Scholarship for study at a secondary / post-secondary institution of higher learning including colleges or universities and technical or vocational schools.

Applicants, who must be of Polish descent, must submit by the due date:

  • Personal Information / Short biographical statement including a brief description of Polish heritage/descent
  • Documentation of academic achievement (GPA)
  • Program/course cescription (tuition, materials)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • Essay on personal goals

Awarded scholarships will be in amounts up to $1,000.00.  More than one scholarship may be awarded in any given year.  If no applicants meet the criteria, no scholarship will be awarded.  Applicants may apply in successive years for consideration.

The Rog Endowment Fund Award

The Polish American Cultural Institute of Minnesota (PACIM) established an endowment fund honoring one of its founding members, Chester Rog.  The fund grants stipends up to $1,000 per year to individuals and/or groups who seek further professional growth in the study of Polish language, art and culture both locally and abroad, and who are committed to use what they have achieved to benefit the cause of Polish heritage in Minnesota or Wisconsin. More than one scholarship may be awarded in any given year. If no applicants meet the criteria, no scholarship will be awarded. Applicants may apply in successive years for consideration.

Preferential consideration given to PACIM members or their family.

Application must include:

  1. Name, address, phone number, email address
  2. Name, location and purpose of the event/class/program/or use for which the stipend is sought
  3. Description of involvement in Polish American community
  4. One letter of recommendation
  5. A short essay (250 words) on, “How an award from the Rog Endowment for the Advancement of Polish Heritage will further contribute to the Polish-American community in Minnesota”

Information provided by applicants will be confined to the scrutiny of the Scholarship Committee and PACIM Board of Directors. All committee decisions are final.
