Maestro Skrowaczewski 90th Birthday Concert and Celebration


Happy 90th Maestro Stan!  A special once-in-a-lifetime birthday celebration concert to honor Minnesota treasure Maestro Stanisław Skrowaczewski, originally scheduled for Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. at Benson Great Hall at Bethel University in Arden Hills, has been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 23 at 4 p.m. at Orchestra Hall (1111 Nicollet Mall in Minneapolis).

A Minnesota treasure, Maestro Stanisław Skrowaczewski will be honored at a special once-in-a-lifetime birthday celebration concert.  This concert is the only formal birthday celebration worldwide of the internationally renowned, composer-conductor who led the Minnesota Orchestra from 1960-1979.

Eminent conductor-composer Skrowaczewski will conduct the world premiere of his newest composition for cellist Lynn Harrell and chamber ensemble. The program includes works composed in honor of the Maestro’s birthday by John Harbison, Paul Schoenfield, Gunther Schuller and Steven Stucky. Also included will be “Happy Birthday” composed by Karel Husa.

The Chamber Music Society of Minnesota proudly presents this celebration concert with media partner Classical Minnesota Public Radio, including KSJN 99.5 FM in the Twin Cities.
